The Evidence Based Library and Information Practice Conference (EBLIP4) is an exciting international event that has emerged in response to the growing interest among all types of libraries in using the best available evidence to improve information practice. The conference on May 6-9, 2007 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina will be followed by two days of continuing education. The conference provides a forum for the presentation of high quality papers and posters as well as examples of how EBLIP is being implemented in library and information settings around the globe.

Important Dates:

December 1, 2006       Submission deadline for abstracts for papers and posters
February 11, 2007       Final decisions for accepted papers
February 15, 2007       Final decisions for accepted posters
March 15, 2007           Submission deadline for full papers

Apropos Information Overload: 😉 Dorothee Boeckh teilt in medibib-l mit:

Der AGMB-Webmaster Peter Kastanek hat auf der AGMB-Website ein Forum zum Informationsaustausch eingerichtet. Bitte testen Sie diesen neuen Service, damit wir uns auf der Tagung darüber unterhalten können. Anregungen, Wünsche, Kritik und natürlich Lob nimmt Herr Kastanek gerne entgegen.

Hmm, mal gucken, wer der Anbieter ist: phpbbx.de, komplett werbefinanziert, privat von Arkadius Stefanski betrieben … hmm, nicht gerade gute Voraussetzungen für Kontinuität … andererseits, hmm, vielleicht bringt dieses dritte oder vierte Forum (neben medinfo, medibib-l und GMS-MBI) ja wirklich die Mitglieder aus ihrem informationellen Tiefschlaf. :mrgreen: Zu wünschen wäre es, denn Deutschland glänzte auf der hochkarätig besetzten 10th EAHIL-Tagung in Cluj bis auf Thieme, DIMDI, Herrn Rump und mich komplett durch Abwesenheit. Frown

CRD-Datenbanken in neuem Gewand

Die Suchoberfläche der Datenbanken DARE, NHS EED und HTA, die auch Bestandteile der Cochrane Library sind, wurde vom Centre for Reviews and Dissemination neu gestaltet. Im Gegensatz zu anderen kostenlosen Zugangsmöglichkeiten werden hier die Abstracts in ungekürzter Form angezeigt. Empfehlenswert für diejenigen, die keine Lizenz für die Cochrane Library haben.

Background is the experience at the EAHIL Conference in Cluj, that blogs have to be (and in fact are made for) working together to share information (overload 😉 ).

Bloggers united!

That proves to be very effective when live blogging the conference at Cluj. Networking is only possible by same language, Linga Franca, e.g. English. Lars from Sweden (Nowhere North) and Guus from Netherlands (digicmb) are already blogging in English. So why not medinfo? Would you stop reading?
