Unbound, The Economist, June 5, 2008:
Publishing has only two indispensable participants: authors and readers. As with music, any technology that brings these two groups closer makes the whole industry more efficient —but hurts those who benefit from the distance between them.
Der Kommentar von Peter Suber: Exactly. How long will we put off that efficiency in order to prop up industry players who are slow to adapt?
Der Kommentar von Oliver Obst: Exactly. How long will we put off that efficiency in order to prop up academic players such as libraries who are slow to adapt?
BTW: prop up ist ein interessantes Verb, das sich auch hervorragend zur Beschreibung des derzeitigen Freizeitverhaltens benutzen läßt 😉
„He spends most of his time proping up against Bar and TV“ heißt z.B.: Er hängt die meiste Zeit an der Bar herum und schaut Fußball.
