Zitrone des Monats für die American Academy of Pediatrics! Die US-Kinderärzte – dedicated to the health of all children* – geben einfach nicht auf: Nach der 2004 versuchten Erhöhung des Subskriptionspreises (+700% für Institutionen), die nach Protesten und Abbestellungen zurückgezogen wurde, soll es dieses Jahr nun endgültig klappen. Ab 2007 soll Pediatrics nun zum guten Schluß den Preis bekommen, den die American Academy of Pediatrics angesichts eines IF von 3,9 und eines 1. Platzes in der Kinderheilkunde zu verdienen glaubt: Im Vergleich zu 2006 muß ab nächstes Jahr nun die durchschnittliche Medizinbibliothek an der Uni (Tier 3) statt $414 stattliche $1495 bezahlen oder ein Plus von 261% – Rekord! Wem das nicht schmeckt darf für $475 „Limited Access with Print“ abonnieren und erhält sage und schreibe den Onlinezugang auf die letzten 12 Monate. Hurra! Das ist doch mal so ein richtig zukunftsweisendes Publikationsmodell! Alles bis auf letzten 12 Monate freizugeben, das ist ja langweilig. Die American Academy of Pediatrics macht es einfach umgekehrt – antizyklisch heißt die Devise … oder freie Marktwirtschaft.
